Reese Plews is a long-standing leader in the management and maintenance of standardized terminology, best known as Convenor of the Terminology Maintenance Group (TMG) of ISO/TC 211, Geographic information/Geomatics.

Contributions to standards

  • Convenor of the ISO/TC 211 Terminology Maintenance Group (TMG), overseeing the committee’s terminology work including its Multi-Lingual Glossary of Terms, and providing editorial guidance to the committee’s project leaders and editors

  • Represents JIPDEC/JISC in ISO/TC 211

  • Project leader of the ISO 19155 series, Place identifiers

  • Project leader of ISO 19135:2026, the International Standard for information registration and the basis of FERIN, and of ISO/PWI 19173
